It's in the Bag!

Hi everyone, I have a sewing project to share with you today which is also on the Crafty Ribbons Inspiration Blog. I made this bag for my Mum's 60th Birthday.  I finished the bag off with flower and added a Large stripped black button to the centre from the crafty ribbons online store.

The Cupcake Crawl ............

Warning, do not read this post if you are feeling hungry!

Hi everyone, I meant to share this at the beginning of the week but time has just ran away with me again!  Anyway I wanted to share some pictures from my weekend of the cupcake crawl I went on for my Birthday.   You know you are getting old when you want to go on a cupcake crawl rather than a pub crawl but I did have lots of fun!  Me and a few friends went to London for the day to sample cupcakes from a few of the famous bakeries.

First stop was Peggy Porschen which was in a very posh area of London.

This was my favourite bakery of the day (what's not to love about a very pretty pink shop!) and this was my favourite cupcake Banoffee!

Next stop was the Humming Bird Bakery at Portabello Road

I had a very nice carrot cake cupcake here

and the final bakery was The Primrose Bakery at Convent Garden, this is me and my sister inside

My final cake of the day was salted caramel which was delicious!

And finally on last picture to show you the Birthday present I got off Will and Grace, a lovely new mixer to bake lots of cupcakes.  I also got a lovely coffee machine from my in-laws so now all my friends can come round for latte and cake!

I hope I have not made you feel too hungry after all those pictures of cake!

Thanks for stopping by.

A 60th Birthday Card ...................

Hi everyone, I showed you the cakes I made for my mum's Birthday at the beginning of the week and today I have the Birthday card I made for her to share with you.   My mum loves decoupage cards so that's what I made her.   The decoupage image and papers are from a papermania ultimate decoupage pack.
I'm so pleased as my mum is now home from hospital thank goodness, she is now on the waiting list for a pace maker so at least some progress has been made and they know what needs to be done!
I hope you all have a great weekend!

A Weekend of Cake ..........

Hi everyone, and happy Monday to you!  I thought I would share a few pictures from my weekend with you today.  It was my Mum's 60th Birthday on Saturday so me and Grace made some vanilla cupcakes for mum and we decorated them with these butterflies made from icing.  My sister brought some butterfly cutters for Christmas and this is only the 2nd time I have used them. They are really easy to use though and they emboss too.  They were so easy even Grace could make them which she was really pleased about!

The weekend didn't quite go as we planned as my Mum is in hospital at the moment so that was not the best way for her to spend her 60th Birthday.  But we took the cakes and presents to hospital and tried to make it nice for her and we plan to celebrate properly when she comes home.

These were the finished cupcakes, complete with butterflies:

Now my sister's cakes are in a bit of a different league to mine and she made me this fabulous Birthday cake, how pretty are those flowers!  It's not my Birthday till next week but I won't see my sister on my Birthday so she brought it over early.  It's chocolate cake and it takes as good as it looks!

A Vintage Christmas Card .............

Hi everyone, I hope your week has got off to a good start.   I had a great time on Saturday at the 80's festival I went to, here are a few pics:

The first picture is of me and my sister and the bottom one is us with two of my sisters friends.  We did have a good giggle and really enjoyed the music.  Rick Astley was the best act of the day.

Anyway back to my card, this vintage Christmas card was inspired by the new gorgeous Vintage Christmas Past Ribbons and the one on my card is music holly ribbon. The ribbon went really well with the Christmas Post papers from Craftwork cards.  The image was a free download I found on the internet.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Get Your Skates On .................

Hi everyone, I hope you are all enjoying the weekend.  I have a Christmas card to share with you today, to show off some of the gorgeous new Christmas ribbons from Crafty Ribbons. This beautiful ribbon was the inspiration for this card and I thought they would go just right with the ice skates die.

I thought I would also show you a picture of Grace already in her school uniform for her first day back at school in Year 2.  She did make me laugh as I asked her how she felt about starting year 2, well she said not very good as I'm going to have to do more work!

I'm off to a 80's music festival tomorrow, I have my leg warmer and a fluorescent yellow top and bright pink pumps!   I think I will fit in well!

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

A Scrapbook Page ..............

Hi everyone, I hope your week is going well.  I have a scrapbook page to share with you today of Father's Day this year.   The first photo is me and my sister with Dad, the middle one I'm sure you will recognise as Grace and her Daddy and the last one is of my Brother-in-law and niece.

This was a quick page to put together as the photos take up most of the layout. A few punched stars and a little bit of journalling and this page was finished!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

A Chair Makeover!

Hi everyone, something different to share with you today.  I have wanted a chair in my bedroom for ages and I have been looking round the charity shops but they always seem to be in sets of 4.  The other Saturday when I went into King's Lynn I went in the Heart Foundation shop which have a great selection of second hand furniture and saw this chair all by it's self for sale for £10.  At that price I had to buy it as I thought it was a real bargain!

When I got it home I decided to paint it the same afternoon and put on 2 coats of Annie Sloan paint in paris grey.   Annie Sloan paint is great as you don't need to do any rubbing down or add a primer you just paint straight onto the wood.  It will go over varnish and it even works well on laminate furniture too. I finished off with 1 coat of Annie Sloan clear wax which you must use to stop it chipping and it was all done in just 1 afternoon.

Well I say all done, when I was in town I also spotted some gorgeous fabric in the fabric shop which was just the right colours for my bedroom so on Sunday morning I whizzed up a cushion cover.
This is my finished chair all in place in my bedroom.

Thanks to everyone that has been leaving me comments, they are really appreciated. I'm sorry I have not been very good at returning comments at the moment but I have been sorting out sponorship for the Winter Wonderland Challenge so this is taking up my blogging time in the evening.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
